The poet gives voice to wondrous things.
Of ancient Knights, righted wrongs,
lovers quarrels, a piece of lace,
a Katydid, a wrinkled face,
a funny song about a clown,
an empty purse, or thirst to drown.
Songs of water, or woodland still,
of violets blooming on a hill.
A song of daisies in a field
or garnered fruits abundant yield.
But oh, of all the poet sings
the ode to love is that which brings
a tender smile to jaded eye,
to troubled heart a gentle sigh,
and in its every lyric line
the ode to love remains through time.
